Despite the odd name (which I never really figured out why it's called what i's called - no simian's and the book is set in California, no raincoat necessary.)

The main character, Elvis Cole, is interesting. But don't mistake this for anything other than candy - it read quickly, and I've already forgotten what's its about. Sarcastic and witty private detective, mysterious but hard-ass partner, case involving a damsel in distress. Not particularly original, but it drew me in for a couple of hours.
