I loved this book. After having read The Road and now this other book by McCarthy, I have to say that this man is a genius. His commentary on how America has quickly become out of control and much more violent over the last few decades provides one element of the foundation of the insight into the Sheriff, who is the central character of the book. The story is simple and straightforward, but McCarthy took me, as the reader, to so many other places while reading this book. This book gave me so much to think about, and I couldn't stop reading it until I had finished it. The scenes are brutally violent throughout, and although I haven't seen the movie yet, I will know to cover my eyes.
