"Rough Country" is the 3rd in the Virgil Flowers series. The book starts with Flowers being in a fishing tournament while on vacation on some lake in MN. A boat pulls up while him and his buddy are fishing with Flower's a guy has his cell phone~he left his cell phone in his hotel room~on purpose. His boss Davenport from the BCA tells Virgil he needs to cut his vacation short because there's been a murder up at Eagle's Nest, which is an all-women's getaway. The murder scene is a woman who was shot in the forehead and face up in a lake. The investigation reveals that the woman who was murdered is a lesbian...and so are most of the women who stay at the Eagle's Nest. Could the murder be about money, sex, or something else that wasn't visible yet? With so many suspects and more people being murdered, including a case that happened two years ago that ties in to this case...Virgil is all over MN trying to figure this out. There is a band, with a lead singer named Wendy who was seen with the murdered she a suspect? Everyone involved is questioned and re-questioned, but Virgil can't seem to get a grasp on who the killer is until...This was a nonstop plot that kept you guessing until pretty much the end of the's a definite read for any Sandford fan.
