These novels follow a generation of four women, each of whom has difficulties relating to their mothers. Told from multiple perspectives, the books span over a century of history as the great-grandmother moves from Switzerland to England to Canada and then America. While this wasn't my all-time favorite book, it was the first book in quite some time that I was anxious to read and struggled to put down.
