The novel Kiss in Time is a magnificent book by Alex Flinn. It is definitely a fantastic twist on the story of Sleeping Beauty and how a kiss, a spindle, and two people, can really change everything! The story starts off about 300 years ago where a Princess named Talia (Spoiled, bratty, and beautiful) was born and was given a curse by the evil witch, Malvolia. The curse stated that she shall prick her finger on a spindle on her sixteenth birthday and that only love's first kiss would awake her and her family's precious Kingdom of Euphrasia. Her parents did everything they could to keep spindles out of the kingdom and forbade her to touch one, but on her sixteenth birthday she pricked one and went into a deep sleep along with the rest of the kingdom. The kingdom was taken off the world map until the curse was lifted. Three-hundred years later, in the present, a slacker carefree guy from Florida gets sent to Europe along with his friend Travis because their parents think it'd be a fantastic thing for their college transcripts. Out of boredom and wanting to enjoy their summer, they sneak off their tour to try and find the beach, but what they find is the Kingdom of Euphrasia-completely asleep. Out of curiosity they both go into the castle and discover the flawless Princess Talia. Jack has a sudden urge to kiss her and he does. Little did he know that that kiss would change both of their lives forever. I ADORED reading this book and reading about the adventures, ups, and downs of both of the characters. The book was both laughable and adorable. Talia and Jack being such opposites really caused the book to be that much more interesting seeing that they both came from different worlds. I highly recommend this book for anyone how wants a sweet, funny, and lovely story.
