The Europeans

by Henry James, Andrew Taylor , Philip Horne
Slight, breezy, pretty thin comedy. My first foray into James. A suitably amusing culture clash between the independent ruckus-starter Europeans and the strait-laced puritanical Americans. The book is mostly the sound of James starting up the ignition, of his toes just submerging in the water. Sporadically funny, well-written, but thin and inconsequential. It ends with a 'so-what.' Fast enough, but it is odd to see specific characters drawn out of continent-based stereotypes.
