Shteyngart's depiction of the future is scary. This distopia is mostly disturbing because it could possibly occur. People are constantly being judged by iphone-like devices that rate you. Lenny, the central character is "old fashioned" or loves to read and is mostly optimistic. His love interest, Eunice, is a young product of her circumstance. The title gives away the end of their relationship but through reading Lenny's journal entries and Eunice's emails and chats you get a pretty hilarious and witty picture of America's direction.
