Great story....A little lacking on the pacing. Around 65% - 80% of the way in it gets a little hard to pay attention. This story asks a lot of great questions about sentience. Things I had never thought of directly, but found to be really interesting which is essentially why I read. Ya know, to wonder about what it truly means to be human or what becomes socially and ethically acceptable after there has been a zombie apocalypse (i.e. the important stuff!). Anyway, this book did that for me. So kudos H. Beam Piper. I salute thee.
