So gross!!!

From the introduction: "Even though everybody in this book has been dead a long time, reading about their last dying days will make your toes curl. But these stories will also fascinate you and make you realize how lucky you are to live in a world with painkillers and X-rays and soap and 911."

Booktalk note, of many:

p. 38 Henry VIII's death

p. 113. Edgar Allan Poe died of unknown causes at 40 and it may in fact have been rabies

p. 127 James Garfield, died of too many unwashed fingers in his non-fatal bullet wound
