I picked up this book yesterday morning and swiftly flew through it...I couldn't put it down! It follows the Penderwick sisters, Rosalind, Skye, Jane, and Batty on thier summer vacation at the wonderful cottage in Arundel. Once there, they are discover a young boy named Jeffrey that lives on the grounds with his evil mother (described by the girls themselves as the White Witch!), Mrs. Tifton. Plenty of havoic ensues as these five kids become the best of friends and have the summer of their life, complete with rabbits, bull chases, soccer games, garden parties, and not to mention the best gingerbread in all of Massachusets.
I totally recommend this book for children. The author has a very strong voice of morality, and all the children act as children should; fun, outgoing, loving, respectful, and disobiedient at times. :) The relationships between the sisters themselves are very sweet, and has some very mature themes in it.
