Erggggg.
look. valenti knows her shit, more or less. and she's passionate and "spunky" (annoying so. HATE hate hate hate hate her writing style. blech). reading this book, which i borrowed from a friend, functioned as a nice refresher course in feminist issues and women's studies.
it was everything i learnt and studied at Uni (in my sociology minor and women's studies classes) - but in a nice, succinct updated fashion.
a well-rounded and comprehensive overview of feminist issues, compiled for what i seriously think was meant for a 13year old targeted audience.
Valenti is trying to wake up the young women (and men) by proving her point "You're a feminist. I swear".
If i was below the age of 17, i would've soaked this up and attributed my entire feminist awakening to her and her book.
But alas, it was nothing more than a good review (which touched me at times, inspired me a little, enraged me properly, and ANNOYED ME wholeheartily) for my feminist soul.
