** spoiler alert ** Lily... house keeper, errand runner, karate & exercise guru... do gooder...

The mystery... 3 black men killed (over a 6 month period of time)... blue notes showing up on car windows encouraging white men to take it back... some of her clients and some of her co-physical worker outers are saying some mean spirited things... some of her black friends are upset... It ends up that a handful of supremists, led by the rich, elder hardward store owner are meeting at the store off hours and planning... and his son is suspicious when he finds two bags of rifles/guns being stored (they're buying them through the store, and will report them stolen so as to cover their behinds) so he hires a private detective (Sam) to 'go undercover' and figure out what's going on and who's involved... they are doing the killing, the flyers, and ultimately bomb a black church...

and though she wants to stay out of it, she falls right dab into the middle... she is present at the fast food place when 3 white men gang up on a black man... and she steps in (though a police officer shows up) and prevents them from beating him up... she is at the home of the rich man when the bags of guns are to be stolen (they're trying to set them up to identify them), and she ends up in bed with and involved with Jack - providing him cover, medical assistance, and ultimately rescue...

and she neatly gets 'rid' of M_____ - her part time lover, part time sensie - as another woman catches his eye... and Claude - the police chief who so wonderfully cared for her in the last book, who visits her for lunch and dinner as often as not and who wants more - but she doesn't... after she tells him no, he starts a relationship with the local doctor (and friend of Lily)...

and though Jack leaves, and she thinks that may be it... he returns... she feels more passion & attraction for Jack then she did with the other men... hmmmm
