** spoiler alert ** This was, like, meg awesome. Unit!
Once I got past the awful braindead teenspeak ;) A brilliant piece of satire and an almost depressingly realistic futuristic piece of dystopia. This was probably the best audiobook I have ever listened to. All the "feed" was done as actual adverts and jingles and when they were "chatting" each other it sounded like it was on a computer. Bite sized "episodes" just like you get on the internet. Very very well done.
The 'feed' is a pretty scary concept - basically internet implanted in your brain as a baby that bombards you with "stuff" all day and where you can chat your friends in the same room without ever having to use your mouth - but perhaps not as scary as a futuristic society where the sea is dead, they cut down forests to build air factories, and radiation induced lesions are "cool". Every distasteful element of today's society has been taken and amplified - it made me laugh because it was all so extreme (like when they eat dinner, throw away their plates and then the table!) but then on the other hand there were definitely elements I couldn't help but wonder if this was truly the path we are headed down. A 5 star read from me for a beautifully constructed pisstake of everything we love to hate about society.

Maylin That was a really useful review. I definitely want to listen to this now - it sounds like one of those books that was made to be listened to rather than read.

Sweetp-1 Its also quite short, like 5hours I think, which is always a bonus. I still laugh about some of the things in it. Unexpectedly good. I was actually wanting to read or listen to the book by the same name, author is Mira Grant and this one popped up on the library catalogue.
