Read from March 04 to 05, 2011 — I own a copy, read count: 1

Please note: I read this book in March 2011 from a copy I received through Amazon Vine in exchange for an honest review. I'm just adding some formatting and this disclosure.

Reading Level: Young Adult (16 and up)
Triggers: talk of suicide
Recommended for: older teen readers, especially girls; those to whom this idea appeals.

My Synopsis: Things had been great for Eden until the last few months. Suddenly none of her friends are calling anymore; her parents barely acknowledge her and it looks like her last year in school is going to be a rough one. Just as she is contemplating ways to end it all, she notices a pair of boys on the beach. One of them - Az - she is immediately smitten with. He is likewise taken with her and they are enjoying being in one another's company when the second boy - Gabriel - discovers something terrifying ... Eden has no destiny. She has no Path. She is a Sider - one who, after dying, will come back to life and continue to live in a sort of half-life state. Oh, and Gabriel is an angel, Az a fallen angel, and there are demons hunting for any Siders they can find.

My Thoughts: It is hard to go into much more detail at this point, as I don't want to spoil things for the readers. As is mentioned on the back cover of the book and in various descriptions, Eden has strange powers - more and different than the average Sider - and this makes her like crack to the demons. Seemingly betrayed on all sides, she has to strike out on her own and remain hidden from the demons as much as she can.

My Recommendations: I liked this story - it's a lower reading level than I normally indulge in (Young adult level), but it was well-written and intriguing. I think older teen girls - 16 and up - would like the story. It's a bit dark, with all the talk of suicide, for younger Young Adult readers, in my humble opinion. Not a bad book overall - give it a read.
