We get to explore more of the symbiosis between K'da and hosts. Apparently, having a dragon on your back can change things even more than one expects. I found the Phooka to be a very interesting subspecies.
Of course, with Zahn it isn't just an exploration of a species. There are plenty of gunfights, explosions, and maulings to go around. This is a very fun read.
