Recommended for: everyone, especially those planning to visit me in Australia!!

I re-read this one in preparation for my move to Australia, and, for the first time, realized that there was a good possibility that I could be eaten by a crocodile while working in the rivers here! The book also alerted me to the many other dangerous creatures and long-distance driving that have now become a normal part of my life. Oh, and he was dead on with his description of Canberra. Most boring city ever (though, surprisingly, there are good Ethiopian restaurants there. Yum!). Thanks, Bill Bryson!
In general, Bill Bryson is hilarious and informative at the same time. I have read several of his books. This, along with A Walk in the Woods, is at the top of my list.

Kathy Bet this one has more personal meaning to you now! I also enjoyed this book a lot myself... funny.

Byson's autobiographical book about growing up in Iowa(?)was good, as well - but his memories are too old to stir much remembrance in you.

Karen I agree Lauren. His books are "laugh out loud" funny...and I did re-read the Australia book in preparation for our trip to visit you...and will probably consult it again!

Jodie Hi Lauren, I too read it in anticipation of your visit to Australia and possibly mine. It did make me think we should stay indoors the whole time. If you survive the jellyfish, insects, snakes, leeches, and other deadly things then I guess we can risk it. Thanks for the inspiration!
