A fascinating look at a Trinidad family's painful attempt to come to some understanding about their immigration and troubled adjustment to Canada. Meera, the young woman taking care of the mother, is particularly interesting. What demons follow you from your homeland, what new demons await you in your new country? And yet there is a beauty here despite such troubles. David Chariandy is an Assistant Professor in the English Department of Simon Fraser University.
