I thought this was a pretty cool take on YA Dystopian/Zombie Fiction. Set in Europe during present times, a mysterious disease has overtaken the entire adult population. If you're over 18, you're looking curiously like a zombie right now. To make matter'll have desires like a zombie eat the flesh of children and teens to survive. So what's a teen to do? Well together, take over a series of abandoned stores, and rebuild you're own little society of course. :)

And so goes the story of "The Enemy" by Charlie Higson. As you can imagine, this book is filled with the regular zombie issues of every other zombie story out there...but it also has an heir of originality to it as well. The fact that ALL adults are dead or dying... that complete betrayal of paternal instinct and love... lends a creepy, haunting edge to the lives of the teens in this story. Also, Higson tells this story through the eyes of a long list of interesting characters, so even the most easily bored young reader will find themselves hooked throughout this story.

By the time this story is ending, you're rooting for so many different kids and their storylines you will have to pick up the second book, just to find out what happens.
