Back to a "small" mystery. One death, limited surroundings. I liked that because for awhile there the deaths had been getting bigger, more involved &/or more grotesque (it's a homicide police procedural series set around 2060 that also delves into the main characters non-work lives) and I knew that couldn't continue and continue to be good. This one is an obvious homage to Agatha Christie, and it's a good one. There's more development in the love/hate relationship between Peabody and McNab, and a return of Officer Trueheart (see Conspiracy in Death). And one of my favorite Eve/Roarke scenes: when Eve tries to put together a romantic dinner for the two of them (for those who don't know the series, this sort of romance is not her strong point & its all the more touching to me because she tries. And I totally get the frustrations that ensue, lol). I love the relationship development in these books. DON'T READ THIS ONE FIRST. READ THE SERIES IN ORDER.
