I have never played any of the Dragon Age games apart from a demo, but I have been on a fantasy kick lately. I enjoyed the story and the characters and found this book a faster read than The Game of Thrones which I am also reading. The writing irked me in parts. The author tends to fall in love with words or phrases and then uses them multiple times in a short period of time. One scene was nearly identical to one in the movie "Romancing the Stone" that as soon as I recognized it I couldn't get the movie scene out of my head. You will find a lot of the same troupes that have been used over andover in fantasy books like a journey through an underground abandoned Dwarven kingdom, perfect elves, and a powerful and somewhat magical sword. Its not a great book when you considering all the pieces, but it is a entertaining read.
