A very interesting start to a story; set in several lands, all whose destinies are rapidly about to crash, this fantasy epic is about a group of characters, some likeable, most not. You'll have to work hard to find one you really like, but it's worth it. Plenty of action (but not too much, except for one rather winded fight/chase/fight/chase/fight scene at the end of the book), intriguing setting and cultures, political intrigue and lots of good drama. I'll definitely be reading the next volume.
