This picture book is part biography, part botany lesson, part inspiring story, and all parts amazing. The book follows young Jane, tracing her interest in living things as she read, observed, and wrote about them, and dreamed of helping the animals in Africa despite many naysayers. Back matter includes information about the primatologist, A Message from Jane, and a cartoon she drew. The book also contains actual drawings created when she was young. The India ink and watercolor illustrations celebrate the world that fascinated this curious girl. Wow! I wish this book had been written when I was younger.
