12-year-old stephanie gets swept into an underworld of magic after the mysterious death of her uncle. her guide? a walking, talking, detective-ing skeleton whose "taken name" is skulduggery pleasant. the first bit is a little slow, but then the action is pretty non-stop. funny with some excellent fantasy twists.
