really liked it
Read in June, 2011

This was one of the first books I downloaded off "Kindle Free books" and finally got around to reading last weekend. I loved it! Great characters, interesting plot devices, and satisfying ending. If you're looking for romance and hot scenes, don't download it. If you're looking for a good story about 3 generations of men (grandson, father, grandfather) coming together for the first time on one day, I'd recommend this book. I'd even pay money for it!

Charlie Carillo thanks for the kind words georgia. wanted you to know my first two published novels, “shepherd avenue” and “my ride with gus” are now available on kindle for $2.99 apiece. regards, charlie carillo

Georgia Thanks for the heads up about your other books, Charlie. I'll look at the write-ups on Amazon. You should know that I seldom post a review of a book--I've really got to love it to write something. Regards right back atcha! Georgia

Charlie Carillo thanks georgia...”shepherd avenue” was named one of the best books of the year by the american library association (1986)...”my ride with gus” (1986) sold to the movies for a lot of money but the movie was never made. ain’t it the way?

Georgia I just bought 'Shepherd Avenue' you're $2.99 richer! I like the description of them both but figured I'd buy the bigger book first. My ride with Gus sounds good too...I'll download that one after I read Shepherd Avenue. I'm a voracious reader, and love downloading books from new authors...especially when they're free on Amazon! On another note, re: making the movie...I guess that's how it goes. My favorite book of all time (Outlander) has been optioned for years...but never made. Why that happens is anyone's guess. Considering the cost of shooting a film nowadays and the money the public has to pay to go to the theater, I'm surprised any movies are being made. I like reading books better, anyway. Thanks for writing back...I'll let you know what I think...honestly. Ciao! Georgia

Charlie Carillo thanks georgia, get some tissues - “shepherd avenue” is funny but it’s also a bit of a weeper

Georgia I couldn't resist...I just downloaded 'My Ride With Gus'. Heading to bed to read. Thanks for the chat. G

Charlie Carillo goodnight georgia and thanks!

Georgia Charlie...I just finished "My Ride With Gus". I just had to tell you I loved it! I hated Jimmy--at first. Hated Gus--at first. (loved Joey). But boy, did they grow on me--and the ending was just perfect. Thanks again. Georgia

P.S. I'm saving "Shepherd Avenue" for the long Columbus Day weekend. I hate to put your books down!

Charlie Carillo bless you georgia, i do appreciate it - if you feel like writing a review on amazon please do, i could use the attention! “gus” sold to the movies in 1996 but the movie was never made. ten years went by and i got a call from my agent, who said the project was back on - with an all-black cast. a mafia movie, with an all black cast. go figure. that movie was never made either. any day now i’m expecting a call from my agent saying the “gus” movie is back on, with an all-chinese cast. life is strange.
