Another Picoult book. When I find an author, I have to read everything by them that I can get my hands on. It's like my goal in my head to read everything in the world even though I know I never will. Just one of those weird things I think about sometime.
While the overall plot of this book was good, there were definitely some holes. Girl grows up with just her father and two best friends who (whattayaknow) live next door to her and are dudes. The three of them are best friends (of course!) but she and one of the Dudes have been in love since high school. They are in their 30's now and Girl has a 4-yr old daughter with Dude, but they are not married and she lives with her dad still. It comes out pretty quickly that Girl was abducted as a child by her father away from her mother and she never knew it. They travel to Arizona from NH for the trial. The story is all about finding about Girl's past and was it better for her that her father took her away from her alkie mother? Dude is father's lawyer in the trial and Other Dude follows because he writes for a newspaper and they are paying him to cover it but he is in love with Girl (of course) and he ends up not. Dude is an alcoholic as well and Girl won't marry him until he cleans up for good. Dude turns to the bottle for some reason I can't remember during the trial and Girl ends up with Other Dude, who actually is the cause of this trouble because he put feelers out about missing kids from 30 years ago. The police in AZ traced it back to the father. But he never tells Girl! Plus, you are with one guy your whole life and then you wake up one morning and you are in love with another? WHATEVER! Overall good, just some missing gaps.
Grade: C
