I picked up this book last night.
It was late and I couldn't sleep.
I didn't intend to read it all, but just a bit, just a chapter or two, to clear my mind.

Oh, what a terrible mistake :D

What I didn't know is that you can't read just a bit of it. This book is like glue - you hold it in your hands and you can't put it down.

There is not much I could say right now about it because I'm literally at a loss for words.. but let me tell you this:
- It's addictive, it's beautiful, it's an amazing story about the best female character I've probably ever read about...
- It's magical, it's sweet, it's full of action...
- It's wonderfully well written, it has a great pack of characters, it's unpredictable, and it will steal your heart...
"This sounds more like a poison than a [book]"
"Exactly. You have poisoned me"

Quotes Ariana Liked

Maria V. Snyder
“What have I earned from you, Valek? Loyalty? Respect? Trust?"

"You have my attention. But give me what I want, and you can have everything.”

“Yelena, you've driven me crazy. You've caused me considerable trouble and I've contemplated ending your life twice since I've known you." Valek's warm breath in my ear sent a shiver down my spine.

"But you’ve slipped under my skin, invaded my blood and seized my heart.”

“That sounds more like a poison than a person,” was all I could say. His confession had both shocked and thrilled me.

“Exactly,” Valek replied. “You have poisoned me.”

“Out of nowhere, Valek appeared before me, yelling in my ear, shaking my shoulders. Stupidly, belatedly, I realized he was the drunk. Who else but Valek could win a fight against four large men when armed only with a beer mug?”

Arlene I really need to start this series. I loved Finn and Brightly Woven BTW. :)

Ariana I didn't know what to expect from this book, so it was such a lovely surprise.. I fell in love with it like I did with the other two. i hope you'll like it as well.

Shelley Hey Arlene and Ari,
Sorry to intrude, but I just started the series this morning and don't want to put it down. I am sooo going to be late for work. What a refreshing premise. I hope you like it Arlene, as I saw you put it on your to-read list. Glad, that I don't have to wait for the two sequels cos I am pretty sure I will want to devour them as well. What i love is that I learned of the series in a GR remark on a review for FIRE, the prequel to Graceling. What a great community we have going on here.
Happy reading.

Ariana @Shelley, I understand what you mean. I was like:
- it's 1 AM, I'll read just a bit more and go to sleep...
- it 3 AM, just one more chapter and this time i'll really go to sleep...
- it 5 in the morning, I can't go to sleep without finishing this book :)))

I still have to read Graceling, but probably after finishing this series (and maybe some more books i have on my list).. and the community is amazing, most of my favorite books came from their recommendations/reviews.

Shelley Ari, I would recommend taking some time b/t the series. Although they are totally different fantasy stories, they have some similar magic elements. I read Graceling (loved) and then immediately dove into Poison Study (loved), but sometimes got I the two worlds mixed up.

I am taking a break from Magic Study. It has a lot of expectations to live up to and so far it is not halfway thru. Too much fantasy in a row? So maybe some distance and time will help.

So I am re-listening to something I know I love, is a totally different genre, funny, and of course has one of my favorite swoon-worthing characters: Her Royal Spyness, which is narrated my the awesome, award-winning Katherine Kellegran (of the Bloody Jack series, which rocks).

Back to drooling over Darcy O'Mara. Enjoy your weekend.

Ariana Yeah, i usually try to switch between different book genres not to get bored.. also reading the parts I love from my favorite books will do the trick and get me back in the mood.

Anyways, I hope you'll like it..
It's funny because this happens to all of us, we all want other people to like the books we love ;))

Have a great weekend you too.
