While I love Foster and was deeply challenged by many of the points made in this book I was deeply disappointed by his soft and ambiguous stance on physical self-gratification. I am not trying to nit-pick but in almost every other aspect of our lives he cites how scripture calls us to strive for holiness no matter how difficult or tempting it may be to do otherwise. When it comes to physical self-gratification however, he basically writes that we should not hold ourselves to such impossible standards. If you are going to make that argument and use scripture to support it, that’s fine but is inconsistent with the rest of his writing. I enjoy Foster but this is not one of his better works.
