This series is a little darker than her usual
YA novels, but I really liked the Greek mythology
that was thrown in, as well as the underworld concept.
It's interesting to read different authors' takes on
the afterlife--or in Pierce's case, afterlife-turned-life-again.

I didn't care too much for Pierce. She's kind of boring and vapid.
The love story was predictable and didn't develop realistically
(but should I expect it to? it's a paranormal novel). We don't
learn too much about John (OR Pierce!) and the secondary characters
were rather forgettable.

I lost interest in the story after a while and kept
abandoning it, but I pulled through. The twist
at the end made it a little better, but I was still confused
by how the plot kept jumping around so much. It was hard to
keep track of all the little things that were happening.

It wasn't the best, but I love Meg Cabot too much.

Looking forward to book 2 either way.
