Two stars....just for the first part about Bombay, I think. But the rest~akkk! Florid, bombastic, overwrought or another one of my favorite words, bloviated.

This was an manly man's story, certainly. The women in this tale were beautiful or motherly or like our antihero's love interest, vague, demanding and frustrating. The deep loves, the relationships with any depth or complexity, were with men; replacement father and brother figures for the folks back home. Which, by the way, one wonders what he did way back in the beginning before he became a heroin shooting criminal prison escapee, gun for hire, superhero of the slum, Royal Enfield riding Bollywood actor to lose custody of his daughter.... just an idle thought, I really don't want to know. I'm afraid I would be subjected to another gaseous bag of pretentious new agey tripe. The 600 pages I read were enough.
