really liked it
bookshelves: world-11, faulks-sebastian

Excellent novel in which nothing much happens yet is quite compelling as Pietro, the protagonist, makes his way through life in a series of vignettes in various times and places. Not written in chronological sequence, the story jumps backwards and forwards in time and can be confusing at first as characters appear whom one hasn't encountered before but then their origin comes to light in a later chapter.

The writing is a thing of beauty and Mr. Faulks is fast becoming one of my favourite authors.

It is an unusual way of writing and thus far nowt much has happened (after 100 pages) but it is wonderfully well written.
