Rated 3 1/2 stars.

I know when I was on page 25 I said it was much too close to The Invisible Thread: An Autobiography by the same author. However, in later chapters, this book diverges from the author's actual life.

I actually liked this book better. It delves deeper into the main character, Yuki's feelings and thoughts. The reader really experiences the story from her point of view.

However, the dialogue seemed a bit forced and unreal.

But couldn't Uchida just not write a memoir and leave it with Journey to Topaz? She said herself in the preface that some elements of her own family were in this book. It isn't that I don't like this book. I'll probably rate it 3 stars."
