This book is perfect for anyone who wants to learn more about the Amish. Not only do you read about Miriam's life but also learn about her perspective - in her own words - on interacting with Englischers, raising a family, and being a godly woman. And, when one of Miriam's stories is preceded or followed by a similar story from Cindy, it's fascinating to see how very similar many of their experiences are. At the same time, there are many differences in how each woman deals with each situation, and the lessons shared by both women are inspiring and encouraging.

Each chapter begins with a scripture that relates to the subject, and mouthwatering recipes from Miriam are sprinkled throughout the book. The chapters are also very short, so it's easy to read one or two chapters a day as a sort of daily inspiration.

If you've read any of Cindy Woodsmall's Amish fiction, or simply enjoy inspirational stories from two honest Christian women, you will definitely enjoy Plain Wisdom.
