This was a beautiful love story. I have to admit, it’s not meant for the younger YA crowd. This is definitely Crossover or even closer to Adult Fiction. And I’m not saying this because of the physical relationship between the characters, which did get a bit intimate. Plenty of today's YA pushes the boundaries. I’m talking about the voice and the feel of the novel. But I enjoyed the relationship development between Lindsey and Aiden. And I felt the paranormal element and romance will appeal to the YA Paranormal Romance loving crowd.

The writing in general was strong. I read the story in one sitting in a couple of hours, and it flowed nicely. Lindsey was a very likable character. Right from the start she was given a difficult situation, but she handled it with grace. As she and Aiden became closer, their time spent together and visiting each other’s memories became the focus of the story. Although these were interesting scenes, the story did begin to drag a bit during this time, but the tension quickly picked up as the couple was torn apart. Their love for one another, and drive to be together, was the force in this story. It was one of the better stories I’ve read where a couple struggles against all odds to be together.

One aspect I like, but wasn’t sure if it’s listed on the author’s site or other reviews, was the focus on God. I don’t think this is listed as a Christian YA, but you can’t help but notice the undertone as you read. Lindsey’s, and even Aiden’s, faith and belief in God was ever-present, and their prayers were heard throughout their story. Very interesting premise and read. I recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a passionate love story with a paranormal twist, and even to readers of faith who want a strong voice of reason. A great read.
