bookshelves: chick-lit, creepy, mysteries

Raybourn plays with a Bronte-esque setting and some downright creepy characters in this romantic mystery. Our heroine Julia, her sister Portia, and brother Valerius, travel to Yorkshire to find out what's up with our erstwhile hero and mystery-solver Nicholas Brisbane. They find a very odd crumble-down house filled with a very odd family - a religious obsessive and her two daughters, one beautiful and odd, one intelligent and bored. Suspense and romance galore, skating close to over the top but never falling down the other side.
