This piece of history is particularly compelling as the street names, buildings, parks, etc. are mostly familiar, we go by them all the time. Occasionally the facts and figures overwhelm the story; however, I was fascinated with the things the "leaders" did wrong and suggestions that the fire could have been much better controlled than it was. Some of those lessons could be valuable. Toward the end there is a litany of some the corruption, the drinking and jail time that tied up the story of some of those people.
