Not even sure why I picked this up, although it turns out the author also wrote Notes on a Scandal which I enjoyed. It must have been a bargain book that I grabbed while wandering through the bookstore.

I don't have a lot to say about the book. As other reviewers pointed out, none of the characters are particularly likable, and none of them seem to grow in the book. The novel ends with a chapter or two of stunning turnarounds from Audrey and her daughters, but nothing from the book leaves me feeling like those changes will really take or resulted from any self-aware decision to GROW THE FUCK UP.

I guess the story is trying to be a banal family drama with a twist - Ha! look at the wacky socialists!!! But there isn't much here to make me want to recommend it to anyone.
