Sara Gallagher seems to have it all - a thriving business, a loving fiance and a beautiful daughter. However, as the adopted child of a couple with two biological daughters, she has always felt like an outsider. Her quest to find her birth mother sets off a terrifying chain of events and, too late, Sara realizes that there are some things you are better off never knowing.
Never Knowing, by Chevy Stevens, was the first book I won in a Good Reads giveaway and I was a little concerned about how I was going to feel about it since I don't read a lot of thrillers. However, from the first page I was hooked. Ms Stevens has some great insights into dysfunctional families and how they shape each family member. She is also able to see shades of gray where others would see only black and white, giving the story a feeling of authenticity often missing from other books I have read in this genre. The characters are three-dimensional and even the bad guy is, at times, sympathetic. The story is fast-paced and never lets up and I have to admit I didn't see the twist at the end coming.
I highly recommend Never Knowing. However, be warned, before starting you should probably clear your calendar because once you begin, you won't be able to put it down.
