Reading these is kind of like watching an episode of Criminal Minds or CSI. They're quite predictable, but enjoyably procedural and detailed. You can finish each book in an hour or two. Unlike Criminal Minds, this series just keeps getting more and more lesbionic. In Potter's Field was the first of the Scarpetta books that I'd say is really openly suffused with a gay woman's POV, even though Scarpetta herself is heterosexual. It gives an interesting perspective to the books.
