I read this chick-lit fantasy novel as a “palate cleanser” after some of the heavier reading with depressing themes I’ve been doing lately. I very rarely read books of this genre so I can’t really compare it to others of its ilk, although from what I have read the “single girl in New York with jerky boss” seems to be a very common setup.

Despite having what I thought was an utterly unlikable protagonist who spends most of her time bemoaning her lack of appeal and “complete ordinariness”, I liked this light fantasy fluff. I enjoyed the alternate New York Swendson creates and the characters at MSI. I am going to save the others in this series for when I need another fun and light read. I would recommend Gods Behaving Badly for others who like their fluff with a taste of the magical.
