I read this in one sitting. This book's got some unusual ideas, which is a hell of an accomplishment in fantasy. But it's not terribly polished. Transitions can be choppy, and the frequent digressions chafe. The conflicted identity theme is presented to the reader through the protagonist's incredibly repetitive thoughts about who she is and where she belongs. The truly skillful author relies on the power of suggestion to take her reader to a recurring conflict.
