Having had Lady Emily investigate her previous cases in Europe, Tasha Alexander takes the intrepid woman entirely outside of her comfort zone and lands her in Constantinople. As disorienting as Vienna was with its vast variety of settings and new acquaintances, this female detective could still leverage European sensibilities as she worked her way through the previous mystery.

In Turkey, however, the environment is vastly alien and the language and tradition barriers are tall and, at times, appear to be impenetrable. Add to that the constraints of being an official investigator on behalf of the British crown, the complexities of power and influence in the royal court of the sultan, and the number of dangers begins to escalate faster than the number of questions to be answered.

Join Tasha Alexander and Lady Emily on another thrilling adventure, set among fascinating surroundings, exotic foods and costumes, barbarism and high culture coexisting within the limits of one society, and an array of new mysteries to be solved.
