*sighs* Maybe it's my mental state. Or maybe I'm being too picky and not allowing myself to suspend my disbelief. I read the first novel, "The Dark Divine", at a fairly decent pace and rated it accordingly. I started on this one and was put off by the main character's behavior. I hate whining, especially when you ask someone for help and they are trying to assist you. And you repay their kindness by complaining and/or not even trying.

Blame my lack of finishing this book on a personal pet peeve but I just couldn't get past it.
