This book was a pleasant surprise. It was a required book for my Women's history class and I'm glad that it was required. Going into this I expected a boring book just like the previous I had to read in the semester but instead I found a wonderful story. I appreciate the historical value of the book but I think that the main point is the value of family. This book is about the authors parents families and the hardships they went though during Mexican Revolution and the prejudices they faced after moving to America. Both families were very close and relied on each other for everything. I especially loved the authors Grandmothers. They were both so wise and had such fulfilling lives. Women like them are hard to come by these days and I think the world would be a much better place if more people thought like those women. Overall a very good book.
