Spoiler Alert!

I really really liked parts of this, but the rest of the book was draggy and there were certain scenes that, IMHO, could have been eliminated altogether as they seemed to serve no purpose in the plot. I was also wondering about the cover, because the main character is 13 years old, so I assume it's supposed to be Reuben on the cover? Because the guy on the cover is obviously not 13.

The action dragged when Toby was doing stuff or thinking about stuff he had done with his friends. It also dragged a lot after Toby woke up in a holding pen and the whole thing with Reuben and Danny and this and that happening, blah blah blah, running here, fighting there, dogs, people being bitten. And a vampire biting a werewolf creates a zombie? Okay, whatever, but what a sad and dull way for Danny to go. Kind of a letdown. He was such a strong, crazy, violent guy and now he drools. At least he could have blown up or something.

There was some good stuff in there, though, don't get me wrong. It just could have used some editing.

Product Description
When Tobias Richard Vandevelde wakes up in a hospital with no memory of the night before, his horrified mother tells him that he was found unconscious. At Featherdale Wildlife Park. In a dingo pen. He assumes that his two best friends are somehow responsible, until the mysterious Reuben turns up, claiming that Toby has a rare and dangerous “condition.” Next thing he knows, Toby finds himself involved with a strange bunch of sickly insomniacs who seem convinced that he needs their help. It’s not until he’s kidnapped and imprisoned that he starts to believe them—and to understand what being a paranormal monster really means.
