** spoiler alert ** so for this vampire mythology... the Seattle clan is structured, disciplined, co-habitating with humans... they have a bar, (Sangria) where interested humans may volunteer to be donors - the taking of blood is quite erotic, though sex is not necessarily involved... no unwilling conversions... and the vampire doctor helps 'approved' humans (usually terminally ill) more easily become vampire - and is working on using vampire ichor to heal without turning... Roman is the lord of the clan, and Dmitri is the Trejan - tasked with defending the clan and its secrets... and there are Reivers in town - taking lives and organs, wanting to get rid of the clan and take power to the next level and 'rule' humans...

and reporter - motivated reporter - Kristin Reed is in need of a big story, and is assigned to the 4 deaths of no blood & organs... it takes her to Sangria... and Dmitri...

There is attraction between Dmitri and Kristin - and the clan has decided it is time to share with the world the existence of vampires...
and that Krisin will be the one to break the story...

so they spend time together, he shares with her what he can - including the medical benefits of ichor... she breaks the story - the city is in an uproar... the Rievers are out to get her, and at one point she is given ichor when her car explodes (though she wasn't in it, just near it) to heal her broken bones... and she gets closer to Dmitri - who is torn - he never wanted to be a vampire, he doesn't want her hurt, he has his duty to his clan and his loyalty is split, etc.

and the Reivers and clan fight - Kristin is in the middle of it (phased in by Vane, a lead Reiver), and fighting with all she's got... they defeat the Reivers, but not before Vane takes her on a roof, she stabs him with silver knife, he bites and and she is dying... Dmitri comes to her, and can only save her by turning her vampire...

she wakes up, and not unhappy that she is turned, and very happy to be Dmitri's love... and when the council wants Dmitri's life because some clan vampires died, she stands up for them - so they make them ambassadors to humans - and phase to Dmitri's home in Spain, and she shows him she is a quick learner as she phases his clothes off of him...

ahhhhh true love....
