really liked it
bookshelves: 2011

Yes, fine, this was perfectly good. Just as well written as any hugely popular adult novel I've read, with a better sense of suspense and setting than most (there is no reason this series should be mentioned in the same breath as, say, Twilight). I'll probably wind up reading the other two at some point.

Gordon My friend Chris Rothe recommended this trilogy as a gift for Andrea's sister *because she liked Twilight so much. It went over very well.

Ian Mathers I've read exactly one page of Twilight (plus many LOL worthy quotations from it on the internet), and I can assure you that this one is much better written. Also much darker. And not about abstinance. And without sparkly vampires. So, better all around. I'd pitch it more like the later Harry Potter books, once they start getting vaguely tense and depressing.
