You can definitely tell this book is the first of a series as the main story of the novel seems to more be an introduction of characters. While there is a small mystery that occurs, it's all wrapped up so very quickly at the end that I thought of it as a secondary thing, more to further show how strange the world is that Sophie is now a part of. I wish there was more of an actual story and chance for the character to develop, and I'm hoping we get that in the next book.

That said - I will definitely read the second book in this series as I love the lead character, Sophie, as well as the cast of interesting side characters. And I'm always a huge fan of the fish-out-of-water types of stories, and I adore how Sophie hides behind sarcasm and a faux toughness to keep from feeling too lost.

Overall, if you're a fan of fun characters in the YA world, I recommend this book.
