So. I re-read this book.
The writing drove me crazy till about halfway through. It's definitely stylistic, but stylistic writing gets on my nerves like crazy. It makes it that much harder to read - either because it's purposefully simple or purposefully wacky.
The characters I liked, although some of them were...over the top. Well, rural Texas - whadaya know.
I like how the author did abuse and recovery. I won't go into it, because that's a talk for another day, but...it was good. It was more accurate than people think.
Also a perfect book for this:

Aw, heck, I'll give it a four.
