** spoiler alert ** What an amazing story about the hard decisions that come with choosing whom to marry and what is most important to have in common...faith or common interests and goals? History of the building of the St. George temple is included along with the ancestry of the main character to develop your love for the characters.
For Abby Peter's this was a heart wrenching decision to make when she is already dealing with going through her beloved grandmother's house and recalling all the memories of summers spend in this cherished home. Abby has left behind a devoted, successful, well off, want to be husband, Scott, who doesn't have a desire for religion in his life. She has also left behind a blossoming career in real estate in Denver to come and help clear out her grandmother's house in St. George. She rekindles friendships from her past with Megan and her husband Ryan and also Blake, a boy who she once had a crush on, who now is a successful, faithful doctor. He offers to help her with the yard cleanup and through shared time they are able to grow closer and have deeper meaningful discussions about life and the gospel that she wouldn't be able to have with Scott.
While cleaning out the attic she finds the long lost box of her great, great, great, great grandmother, who was not written into the genealogy records because of her death and the remarriage of her husband Tom fisher to another widower in the pioneer group who helped to raise his orphaned new born after Catherine's death. When Abby finds and reads Catherine's journal she finds the answers to her prayer and fast about who she should marry by following Catherine's example of hardship and sacrifice.
