Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment
by Steve Harvey
I expected more from this book, but I found it chatty and almost doesn't bring anything new. Steve Harvey explains in this book to women how they should act and think to have a good relationship. It wasn't useful for me because it's mainly about dating. For the first time I caught myself thanking God of the arranged marriage we have. At least we know the dude is serious about it!
Harvey claims that men are so busy to give you their attention and time until they find out three things: who they are and what they do in life and how much they earn. Until then, women only fit into the cracks of their life!
Harvey also explains how men love is different than women's. They show love with profressing that you belong to them and provide for you and protect you. This is how men love, and if they don't, it is because you don't stand and demand.
In return of this love, men expect three things:appreciation and making them feel special, loyality even if they're broke, and the cookie. If they didn't get the cookie from you they will get it from someone else.
Harvey tells women not to expect long conversations from men. They're not brought up to open up, but to fix things. Keep the long talks for your girl-friends.
Men are not mind readers.IF something is bothering you, tell them directly so they can fix it.
The auther has an interesting philosophy about cheating. He states that men cheat because they can, they know they will get away with it, they have messed-up priorities and lastly, because you changed. Whatever the reason, I say; just leave.
I like the chapter about independent women. Harvey says it's ok for girls to have their own money and be indpendent, but they lose if they showed to their men that they don't need them. Men are providers and they have to fulfill this role. Women still should act like a lady and allow their men to provide and protect them.
